As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainable and efficient agricultural practices, Q2 saw an increased focus on the use of drip irrigation systems across several of our operations. This method of irrigation shows results in both resource conservation and crop health.
Two of our team members shared their experiences from the field:
“One of the main benefits to me is that it minimises the waste of water from evaporation, misting and runoff. It also delivers water directly to the root zone, where it is needed, which also protects the plants from fungal diseases.”
– Wesley Delport
“Drip irrigation systems can be used very effectively to apply fertilizers and minerals to crops whilst irrigating – commonly known as fertigation.”
– Paul Anders
These insights reinforce the potential of drip irrigation not only as a water-saving solution but also as a strategic tool for targeted nutrient delivery. By localising both water and fertilizer to the root zone, plants benefit directly and consistently, which can improve yields while reducing waste. As a group, we remain focused on best practices in installation, maintenance, and long-term sustainability for all our irrigation systems.
