Irritech and Weston partnership: Cultivating Knowledge, One drop at a time.
At Irritech, we believe that every positive action creates a ripple effect. Our social responsibility project, in partnership with Weston Agricultural College, is dedicated to expanding their irrigation education program. Driven by the passion to make a meaningful difference, we aim to equip learners with essential skills and knowledge that will empower them for the future.
Our mission is to engage with Weston learners throughout their school career, focusing on a two-year program that fosters a deep understanding of irrigation systems. We provide hands-on learning experiences and expose students to potential career opportunities in the irrigation and agricultural sectors.
We focus on several key areas to enrich the educational experience:
– Introduction to Irrigation: Covering the basics of irrigation technology and its importance in agriculture.
– Water Rights and the Water Act: Educating students on water laws, rights, and sustainable management practices.
– Farm Visit: A comprehensive on-site experience where students observe the full irrigation process—from water being pumped from rivers to its final use in sprinklers.
– SABI Course in Grade 11: Offering a specialized course through SABI (South African Irrigation Institute) to deepen technical knowledge.
– Work Experience: Providing real-world exposure through work placements, giving students insight into careers in the field.
We are pleased to see how our efforts are shaping a brighter future for learners in KwaZulu-Natal, equipping them with practical skills and knowledge that will benefit both their communities and the agricultural sector.
