We at Irritech are proud to support Greenpop and the great work that they do. Read below what they have been busy with over the summer months.
1. Greenpop’s Cape Town Urban Greening Programme Adapts to the Cape Water Crisis
As the ongoing drought in Cape Town forces changes in almost every industry, our environmental CSI partner Greenpop is adapting to Mother Nature's shifts.
While their urban greening work usually focus on planting trees in under-greened urban areas, they have recently changed their Urban Greening Programme to include indigenous fynbos and water-wise gardens, which include the installation of water-saving infrastructure at their beneficiary schools and community centres.
They are offering the public the chance to fund water-wise eco-education workshops at their selected beneficiary sites. Join us in creating a more resilient Cape Town.

2. Greenpop Begins Climate Adaptation Project in Malawi
We are excited to share that our environmental CSI partner Greenpop has recently expanded their work to Malawi. Greenpop, in partnership with Action for Environmental Sustainability and the Center for Environmental Policy and Advocacy and funded by UTZ, will be undertaking a project focussing on landscape-based climate change adaptation in the tea smallholder sector in Mulanje and Thyolo districts.
The project will facilitate the development of landscape adaptation plans which will stipulate various activities related to natural resource management, alternative livelihoods, and good agricultural practices to help small-scale tea growers to adapt to climate change impacts. Some of the proposed activities include tree planting, catchment management, alternative energy promotion through cookstove technologies, conservation agriculture, agroforestry, beekeeping and village savings and loans programmes to name a few!
3. Eden District Regeneration Project
In June 2017, devastating wildfires wreaked havoc on large areas of the Eden District along South Africa’s beautiful Garden Route. We are proud to be part of the solution by supporting Greenpop - our environmental CSI partner. In collaboration with local NGOs in the affected areas, Greenpop will be planting thousands of trees, removing alien vegetation, painting environmental murals, and greening under-greened and affected schools and community centres.
