Irritech Farmers Day To Celebrate 25 Years In Business

Written by Julia Bradford, a vital and important part of the planning committee for the Irritech Farmers Day to Celebrate 25 years of Business

Wow, wow and another WOW just for good measure. I can honestly say the hours of planning and jumping through hoops where all well worth it. I compare the pre-tension for this Open day with that of my wedding day – although that was many moons ago; having that check list for the check list for good measure was a total winner.

Farmers Day
Arrangements for all the Irriteam were set and the excitement was felt days in advance and the true “gees” of ‘We can do this!’ came alive from as early as 6 am the morning of our open day. We all braced ourselves for the mid-winter chilly morning but don’t think anyone really noticed during the last hour of set up. The flurry of activity warmed the arena as well as the many willing hands of the Irriteam. Having Round Table PMB12 ready and willing to serve coffee and food earlier than anticipated helped too!
The immense support we received from our suppliers was incredible. In the weeks prior to our Farmers day, there was a constant stream of promotional items landing in my office (aptly now named the “war room” - we planned, we strategized, we stressed and we laughed!). All the items where bagged into goodie bags and given away on the day by Sean, the MC.
Our MC Sean from Sound Mechanix did a sterling job; the half hour draws for 10 lucky guests kept him on his toes and in between this, he still managed to announce interesting facts about the day and keep on top of our agenda. We are very grateful to Round Table and Sean for all their advice in planning as well as being all round fantastic contributors to the Farmers Day.

Farmers Day2
During the course of the day, I stood back and just watched for a moment, looking on as a guest would and I just couldn’t believe the vibe. So many happy faces, kids running around playing with bubbles floating in the air, their little painted faces, the sticky hands and giggles were just too sweet. Perhaps some of the little folk thought this was a great party, until the horse and cart appeared. I think that just took the excitement to a new level and it became the greatest party EVER!
Ticket sales continued to soar for the lucky draw throughout the day and in true Irritech style, we made a plan and made sure all that wanted to buy a ticket could do so. The registration area remained a buzz of activity the entire day. Besides the ticket sales, the Irriteam were quick to register guests for lucky draws and answer any questions. What a lovely way to meet and greet.
Before I knew it, we were all huddled together and ready for the speeches. There were 5 awards for loyal service to Irritech, these 5 people are all pillars of strength in the Irriteam and excel in their different areas of expertise – Dee Penfold (Admin), Dumisani Duma (Workshop), Donald and Richard Sombane (Technical) and Paul Anders (Sales). Once Franek started his speech, I really don’t think there were many dry eyes in the audience. I well up just thinking about it, but yet, have a smile on my face. The passion and positive attitude for this company is truly portrayed by Franek. 25 years of perseverance and persistence has truly paid off. The Grand prize of R100 000 towards an irrigation scheme was the cherry on the cake. Mr Steve Colenbrander of Colenbrander Inc. drew the lucky number which belonged to Burnside Farm. What a lovely way to finish off the day.

Farmers Day 1
When I woke up on Sunday morning the first comment from me to my husband was “ Next year I must make sure the toilets are closer”, which was met with hordes of laughter.
Would I do it again? Yes bring it on.
Here’s to Irritech’s next big milestone and many more.

Hi Franek
I would just like to say WOW! What an awesome event you and your team put on Saturday. I was honestly very impressed by how well everything was organised and how smoothly it all went. From our side we had some great conversations and interest from our stand so thank you for including us. Once again well done on 25 Years and I look forward to many years ahead with you and your team.
Kind Regards,

Good morning Andrew and Caitlin

Hope both of you are keeping well.

On behalf of The Standard Bank of South Africa we would like to congratulate Irritech with a very successful open day last Saturday celebrating your 25th birthday.
May there be many more successful years and may the company grow from strength to strength.
The day was a huge success and we are proud to be associated with the group.

Kind Regards,

Dear Julia

So happy to hear from you again! It is my last few days at Greenpop, so you have caught me just in time :)

"The Irritech Open Day was a wonderful experience for me as I got to spend time with one of Greenpop's Top 5 donors and celebrate with you all! Within the first 30 minutes of being there, I already felt as though I was part of the Irritech family and happy to be put to work :) I look forward to seeing all the exciting news from Irritech in the future and seeing their virtual tree forest grow!"

Thank you for organising such a great day!

Have a Happy Wednesday!

Warm wishes
