Irritech has taken on the task of reducing our carbon footprint, and alleviating strain on municipal supplies. We have installed rainwater tanks with the capacity of 15 000 litres, even during the on-going drought we have found the water collected off our workshop roof has been more that sufficient to keep the workshop and other non-drinking water on the premises flowing. Once collected in the tanks, we make use of Pedrollo pressure pumps to pressurize the system with the rainwater, these pumps only kick in when water is being used, which uses minimal electricity, which is supplied by our two solar systems. We have replaced all of our workshop and office lighting with LED alternatives, and installed 2 separate solar inverter systems. These are powered by a total of 80 photovoltaic panels a top our workshop roof. With a maximum capacity of 20KW from both solar systems, and the reduced electricity consumption from use of LED lighting we have managed to reduce our municipal electricity consumption by more than 50%. With the expected life-time of this system at around 30 years. This is what we will be doing for the environment: While saving trees is great, we don't think that it is enough... which is why we want to plant more! We have entered into a partnership with Greenpop, (Read more about Greenpop Here) who are hard at work rehabilitating natural forest, increasing awareness and planting trees in general. So we will pledge to match every donation to Greenpop made via Irritech. Next time you visit our shop, meet one of our engineers, or see one of us working on your farm, please ask about donating. At only R120 per tree its an easy option to rehabilitate some natural trees that were once growing on the farmlands we use today.
